The 23 Voyager is a fully enclosed walk-around center cabin providing all the conveniences of a center console with the weather protection comforts of a full cabin. The pilothouse seats two adults, stands three, (headroom is 6' 4"), and, in a pinch, two persons can be seated while the driver and navigator stand.
 |
| The pilothouse is bright and airy. Door openings are 20" wide, with front and rear windows that open and there is an overhead roof hatch providing excellent ventilation when underway. |
One of the nice features about this center cabin walk-around is that when you exit the pilothouse you are standing on the cockpit floor, surrounded by deck coaming 22" high. The floor is 17" wide, not 8" or 9" as is often the case. Walking forward or aft, there is a rail within easy grasping range.
Inside you'll find the Voyager surprisingly light, airy and cool. Front and rear windows open, the doors open 20" wide and there is a roof hatch that blows air directly behind your head when underway. Additionally, there are two opening side ports in the cuddy and the rooftop has graceful overhangs all around for sun and rain protection.
What makes the Voyager unique is the design and quality of its sliding side entry doors. They are all-welded aluminum, insulated, powder coated white, have "easy grab" outside handrails and a partial lock-open feature that permits the doors to be cracked open 3". It's not uncommon to "crack" the leeward door for ventilation even in the rain. Both doors are lockable. With this boat, gone are the days of snapping and unsnapping canvas curtains or cleaning scratched Plexiglas. When you leave this boat for the day, you simply lock the doors.
| There is a small 50" x 70" cuddy area forward, a place for the optional Porta Potti, to change into swimsuits, or small children to snooze when the insert filler cushion is in place. There is a simple zippered privacy curtain covering the opening.
You'll find plenty of storage about the decks on the Voyager. The bow platform, in addition to serving as an excellent elevated casting deck, also provides plenty of room for anchors, dock lines, tool boxes, water jugs and other gear. This compartment is accessed through a scuppered lockable hatch and drains aft on the cockpit floor. For added comfort, there is an optional bow platform cushion.
|
Just aft of the platform is the console front seat which comfortably seats two and even though there is no backrest cushion, leaning back against the pilothouse's curved surface is surprisingly comfortable. Bow platform cushion and front seat cushion are desired options.
Aft in the rear cockpit you'll find the tackle station handy for storing fishing lures, pliers, gloves, etc. The compartment is large enough to hide a small person, and both doors have ventilation louvers and stainless locksets.
Inside the pilothouse you'll be quietly protected from the elements, especially when the doors and rear window are closed. To enhance daytime visibility, the dash is coated with a flat finish to reduce glare onto the windows. For improved nighttime clarity, all windows are tint free. The dash has an electronics gauge pod, chart table to port, a fiddle to prevent items from sliding off the dash and a crewmember grab rail.
Overhead there's a convenient radio box containing the wiper and electrical switch panels. Aft on the overhead is a handy shelf for small gear, such as flares and first aid kits. Red/White dome lights are located in the pilothouse and cuddy.
The Voyager is equipped with two-speed, self-parking, full-sweep windshield wipers. They have high quality pantograph arms and blades that are of maximum length to clear as much glass as possible. Good wipers and a tight pilothouse make those rainy days enjoyable boating days.
 |
The pilothouse seat/leaning post is 46" wide, and has a folding backrest providing access to another storage compartment, ideal for light clothing, hats, and wallets. The seat's rugged two-person folding footrest is strong enough to stand on for improved visibility when negotiating shallow (clear) water. |
 |
Whether you're an island commuter, year-round fisherman, or a couple who just wants to get out on the water yet be protected from the elements, this is a boat you should take a look at.
 |
The Voyager, like its companion 23's, performs very well with moderate sized motors.
The hull starts to plane at unusually low speeds (12 MPH) and this becomes very important
in heavy weather when higher speeds (often required in other designs) are not possible.
It's also an indicator the hull is fuel efficient, often obtaining over three miles per gallon.
Engine horsepower range is 130 to 225. Optional swim platform shown, fits all 23's.
