Maritime’s unique hull design delivers a dry, stable, seaworthy ride. Utilizing a well balanced blend of big boat features the 20 Pioneer allows you to fish comfortably offshore, yet is versatile enough so you can explore areas close to shore. Fisherman appreciate the weather protection provided by the 20 Pioneer’s center cabin, allowing them to extend the boating season or better yet, fish year round!
You can walk around the cabin without having to take one or two steps up to the side deck allowing easy access to the bow casting platform or toward the stern.
Good visibility from behind the helm allows you to pilot this boat confidently in fair or foul weather. If you get caught in a squall you can quickly install the optional canvas weather curtain set to give you complete protection from the elements. The console has a raised gauge pod for flush-mounted electronics, a non-glare dash with a flat area large enough for charts and binoculars, a front seat, and a lockable bi-fold door with stainless lockset. The rooftop mounted radio box provides easy access for a VHF radio and other auxiliary switches. Headroom under the roof is 6’4″.
The cabin has 4′ 8″ headroom. There is provision for a Porta-Potti, and with the optional Bunk Cushion Set the cabin forms an ideal 50″ by 60″ child berth. The Pioneer has an aerodynamic windshield/roof design that reduces trailering windage and boat heeling from cross winds. Flat surface areas on the roof provide excellent mounting areas for radar, GPS and antennas.
The 100% composite 20 Pioneer is a strong, versatile boat made with the best materials and 316 stainless steel hardware. The all fiberglass grid system firmly bonded to the hull gives the 20 Pioneer incredible hull strength and the foam filled grid and sections beneath the deck not only make the boat “unsinkable”, it also dampens hull noise. There is a choice for an all white interior cockpit or the traditional Maritime solid grey interior, both which utilize the highest quality gel coats for maximum durability and wear resistance. The new aggressive non-skid deck pattern combined with the self bailing cockpit make the boat easy to clean and maintain.
With a draft of only 12″, the Pioneer can comfortably fish the flats and just as easily tackle conditions offshore. The rounded bow and hull accent lines push aside spray for a remarkably dry ride even in a stiff chop and the 7’7” beam and wide chines provide excellent stability so you can enjoy yourself while drift fishing offshore. The 20 Pioneer will quickly reach plane at 12 MPH, runs flat and delivers excellent fuel efficiency. Powered with a 90 or 115 horsepower motor running at a cruise speed of 18-24 MPH the 20 Pioneer will deliver greater than 5.5 MPG while burning less than 4.0 GPH. All Maritimes have ethanol friendly polyethylene fuel tanks, range of a 20 Pioneer’s 29 gallon tank is in excess of 150 miles. With a maximum 150 horsepower motor the 20 Pioneer will reach speeds between 40-45 MPH, not necessary for most people but important for those that are always anxious to reach the fishing grounds.
There is a long list of available options for a 20 Pioneer including windshield wipers, roof mounted rod holders, a 316 stainless steel wrap around bow rail, two tier stern rail, leaning post tackle station, gunwale bolster kit and a custom molded swim platform. Serious fisherman will want to consider the 34” leaning post upgrade that contains a 32 gallon oval shaped Kodiak livewell and optional raw water washdown.
