The 20 Defiant is a delight to drive. It's nimble, responsive, and fuel efficient. It shares the same 42" console and leaning post as the 23', as well as the optional 42" console "T"-Top and leaning post tackle station shown below.
This model has been recognized for its ride, offshore capabilities and dryness. All these capabilities in a hull that only draws 12", and can be powered with a wide range of engines from 70 to 150 HP, providing over 30 MPH with the 70, and 40-45 with the 150.
 For trailer boaters the 20 Defiant is comfortably towed on a single-axle trailer.
New in '04 was an improved internal fiberglass grid system, wider side decks and a longer bow deck.
No stranger to fiberglass grid systems, Maritime started building their boats using this system fourteen years ago. Years of experience naturally generates refinements, and these went into the Defiant 20.
The step-down area under the console is smooth for easier clean-up, white to brighten the interior, large (20" x 74") for additional storage, deep for a surprising 50" of headroom inside the console, and tall enough for a person to sit on a Porta-Potti.
Note how much room there is aft of the leaning post. Photo shows standard under-gunwale rod racks and optional "T" top with radio box.
We widened the side decks to accommodate the factory-installed rod racks (shown) and optional flush rod holders; you choose the number and location. Even the bow deck was lengthened and the bow lights separated, making it easier to bring on board heavy mooring pendants, common in the Northeast. A large bow bitt and centerline 6" chock is standard.
The standard 34" leaning post is easily upgraded with optional backrest, folding footrest, and very desirable tackle station shown below. All doors have lockable stainless latches.
