Maritime Marine Group, LLC Acquires Assets of Bristol Harbor Boats, Inc.

December 1st, 2011

Maritime Marine Group, LLC of Augusta, Maine has recently become the new owners of Bristol Harbor Boats (www.bristolharborboats.com).  Maritime Marine Group, LLC is jointly owned by the principals of Kenway Corporation and is focused exclusively on boat building, marketing, and distribution for the company’s marine operations.  Bristol Harbor Boats is the most recent marine-related acquisition for Maritime Marine Group, LLC.  The company started focusing on the Marine industry in 2004 and acquired the Maritime and Maritime Skiff (www.maritimeboats.com) product lines in 2007.  The assets of Southport Boats (www.southportboats.com) were strategically acquired in 2011, allowing Maritime Marine Group, LLC to enter the larger, high-end offshore center console market, with another Hunt designed hull.  Also in 2011 company principals became investors in Front Street Shipyard (www.frontstreetshipyard.com), where the company partners on custom wood and composite yacht construction up to 145’ LOA.  When asked about the latest acquisition of Bristol Harbor Boats, Ian D. Kopp, President/Chief Operating Officer of Maritime Marine Group, LLC stated, “It is the strategic vision of the company to specialize in semi-custom production boat brands that target different segments of the market but share in common a commitment to Maine-built craftsmanship and quality, class-leading safety, performance, and efficiency.  It is with this vision in mind that we have acquired the assets of Bristol Harbor Boats.” Read the rest of this entry »

Time to Move In – Start Thinking Spring!

February 20th, 2011

In my home port of Harpswell Maine the ice is starting to break up and float in large chunks out toward open water- a sign that we have turned the corner toward spring.  Another sign that spring is almost here is the annual task of moving boats into the New England Boat Show in preparation for the start of the show on February 26th

The show will host more vendors and exhibitors than last year- but more importantly Maritime will be there with a nice selection of boats and solid team of experts to help answer your questions.   Bring the family and your stories and let’s start thinking about and planning for the start of boating season!  PGG – Maritime Marine

Flashback - 2009 New England Boat Show

“Nothing But Business”

February 11th, 2011

It is always interesting to stand back, watch and listen to a seasoned fisherman as he reviews and inspects a Maritime at a boat show.  Surrounded by all the noise and chaos of your typical boat show these fishermen will lean quietly against the hull, slowly scan the boat with piercing eyes and after a few moments snap out of their trance and make their official comment.  Sometimes they speak to a friend, often they just speak out to no one in particular, but they always voice their opinion. Respecting their boating and fishing experience I listen carefully to their comments and suggestions and always try to learn what we can do to improve things. I was initially surprised by the consistent and similar comments shared by the “old salts” examining our 23 Defiant at the Hartford Boat Show recently.  Why were they all saying the same thing and using the same words?  Then I realized it was simply what came into their mind as they reviewed Maritime’s strong, rugged construction and simple functional layout.  “All Business”, “Nothing But Business”, “Serious Business”…… it doesn’t take long for a seasoned fisherman to summarize what Maritime is all about.   PGG – Maritime Marine

Brunswick Police use their Maritime 20 Pioneer to rescue injured teen.

September 28th, 2010

Although I wish the reason for the rescue had been avoided altogether, I was pleased to learn that my local police department used their Maritime 20 Pioneer to successfully rescue a young girl who jumped  yesterday afternoon from a tall bridge into a rocky shallow river.    The Marine Patrol keeps their 20 Pioneer on a trailer rigged and ready to roll and yesterday the  Pioneer’s shallow draft and wide easily accessible bow platform all contributed in helping the crew reach the girl and safely transport her to shore.     Our center cabin models which include the Pioneer, Patriot and Voyager models are the most popular boats chosen by our Fish and Game, Fire, Police and Emergency Response customers since they are versatile, provide solid weather protection and  allow quick and easy access to all areas of the boat.

It makes us feel good knowing our boats safely allow others to help people in need…..                   Maritime- Boats You Can Depend On! PGG

Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center uses Maritime 23 Patriot to release rescued harbor porpoise.

June 30th, 2010

Here is a nice photo of a Maritime 23 Patriot supporting a crew from the University of New England Science Center and Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center (MARC) as they release a rescued harbor porpoise into the offshore waters of Maine.  With a satellite tag attached to her dorsal fin, the team at MARC will be able to track the two year old porpoise’s travels over the next 6 months. The MARC rescues and rehabilitates animals, researches the causes of marine mammal mortality and monitors the state of the marine environment.  For more information on all the interesting things MARC is doing to keep our waters alive and active visit: http://www.une.edu/research/msc/marc/index.cfm.   To learn more about the boat that keeps the MARC crew safe, dry and comfortable visit our website at www.maritimeboats.com.
